So clearly when I took these photos 2 weeks ago, I was hoping that the Green Bay Packers would be in my hometown fighting for the Vince Lombardi trophy at the Super Bowl. Unfortunately, they couldn’t beat the Atlanta Falcons in the play-off game to make it to Houston, but I am still extremely excited for the Super Bowl on Sunday. So, how does a Texas girl become a Packers fan – well, I was brainwashed from a young age. My Mom grew up in Wisconsin and, when we were growing up, the Houston Texans did not exist (I think the franchise is only 12 or 13 years old). I remember wearing my cheese head/hat (aka. a gold-ish-yellow foam triangle with indents in it to make it look like a piece of cheese) around the house on game day and visiting Lambeau Field on one of our annual summer trips to Wisconsin to visit my extended family. Bleeding green and gold was literally passed down in my blood. 😀
There have been some amazing events going on in Houston this week leading up to the big game on Sunday. The energy is Houston is high and the buzz of the game is like nothing I have seen before. I think the rodeo comes close, but this still takes the cake. So anywho – let’s talk about the fashion behind game day. (and to make things easier, let’s just pretend the Packers made it in to the Super Bowl…) For any game day, whether it’s cheering for my Irish or rooting for the Packers, I love to keep my outfit casual with a bit of flare. And of course I’ll be sporting my team’s colors! I love rocking a t-shirt and jeans because of how comfortable they are and I’m not worried if I spill a bit of beer or ketchup from my hot dog or brat on them. Plus it is perfect for jumping up to see an amazing play in action or to coach from the couch when they aren’t making the plays I expect of them.
To add a bit of glamour, I love wearing these glitter Kate Spade Keds. They are absolutely adorable and one of the most comfortable pairs of shoes I own (you can see how I’ve styled them with a skirt here). I also wanted to pair this t-shirt (because of the white accents on the arms) with my Headbands of Hope white beaded headband. I have always been a headband fan (I may have worn one almost every day of high school), but these are unique. They are not only the cutest things ever, but they also give back. For every headband purchased from Headbands of Hope, one of their headbands is donated to a child battling cancer. Isn’t that so great?
What will you be wearing for the Big Game on Sunday? Let me know in the comments below. Also, be sure to follow SGSB on Instagram for stories about my adventure filled weekend with the Super Bowl in town.
