This weekend, it felt like spring in Houston and it was absolutely gorgeous (I’m talking mid-70s, sunny and no humidity – which is super hard to come by in South Texas)! With us having more of these days, I am so excited to start swapping my work + play wardrobe to have more layering pieces, more dresses + skirts and lots of sandals.
When I moved last month, it was the perfect reasons to organize my closet (or at least get a start on organizing it) and I determined there were a few key pieces that I would love to invest in that would help me to create more of a capsule wardrobe and rewear pieces multiple different ways. A few of the items that instantly stood out that I needed was a pair of straight and/or “Mom” jeans (since all I seem to own right now is skinny jeans), a few solid color blouses that I can wear to the office, and a pair of black heels to replace a previous version which I wore to the bone.
When I first spotted this satin faux wrap blouse at Lane Bryant a couple of weeks ago while browsing the new arrivals, I immediately added it to my cart. It was on my spring wardrobe refresh list and it was such a unique shade of orange/pink and the tie waist/slight peplum is a cut that I often find super flattering. Once it arrived, I was even more in love with it because the color was even richer in person, the fabric felt luxurious and the cut fit almost perfectly (which I was a bit concerned about because I have a hard time wearing v-necks due to my smaller bust).
After deciding that I wanted to keep the blouse, the wheels started turning in my brain about all of the different ways I could wear it!
Not only did I immediately think of wearing it for work with this pencil skirt and leopard flats, but it also looked so good with the these straight leg, frayed hem jean (I’ve been seeing the “mom jean” trend all over the runways and street style and I have been on the hunt for a pair to style throughout the spring).
I also have a few other ways that I am hoping to try out once I get back from my trip. Needless to say, I was so excited that I was able to snag most items that were on my spring wardrobe refresh list from Lane Bryant. With my hectic schedule, it was nice to only need to go to one place to grab it all!
What is on your spring wardrobe wish list? Let me know in the comments below!
