Thanksgiving just hits differently this year…at least for me. While 2020 sure has been a whirlwind roller coaster, it has definitely allowed me to slow down and really appreciate all the wonderful people and things I have in my life. And as I embark on this Thanksgiving month, I’ve been spending an extra bit of time each morning reflect on this year and the journey it has been and for the lessons that I have learned along the way. I know it’s so cliche to say this, but I feel so blessed and grateful to have my health, my family and friends, my job, and this little corner of the Internet which has helped me to stay connected during this isolating year. And while I’ve said before that I’m grateful for all of these things, this year has truly been a reminder of how precious each and every moment with loved ones are – and when we get to see each other in person again, those hugs will be a little sweeter.
Traditionally, Thanksgiving dinner has consistent of the 5 of us – my parents, brother and sister-in-law, so we tend to keep it very casual and this year will be no different. Right now, our plan is to gather at my parents house to cook together, watch some football, and celebrate being together. With our more casual plans, I’ve decided to tone down my Thanksgiving Dinner outfit to one of my go-to recipes for a perfect outfit – jeans, booties and a spectacular top.
This collared sweater is from H&M and currently under $30. I’ll be honest, friends, I haven’t done a lot of shopping at H&M recently because I didn’t think they carried the cute things in my size. Every time I would check the Curve collection on their site, I felt disappointed in the basics that they carry. When sharing this with a friend, she pointed out that their “straight size” collection actually goes up to XXL and a lot of the items have a generous cut to them (I probably could have sized down in this top). Ever since I discovered this in September, I’ve made quite a few purchases and have only had to return 1 thing out of probably 12 for being too small. If anything, I’ve returned things for being too big….so, if you were like me and thinking that you couldn’t try H&M, I would definitely recommend trying it out again. You may end up finding something that you like.
However you are spending the Thanksgiving holiday this year, please know that I am so grateful for you following along with SGSB as I figure out this whole “real world adulting” thing.
