Being able to meet so many amazing and supportive women has been such a game changer in both my blogging endeavors and in my career. I’m so excited today to be teaming up for a “Style Trends” post with some blogger babes to showcase how we all style Statement Earrings. I hope that you find inspiration from one of these ladies to try out this trend – whether at work (which is how I styled them) or for play. Be sure to hop on over to their blogs to meet these fabulous ladies!

This outfit practically sums up my work style. I love wearing a black pair of skinny ankle pants, black flats and a colorful top. I always know that it will be appropriate for the office and it allows me to add my personality through colors and prints without feeling like I am going over the top.

One trend I have been trying to incorporate more in my work outfits is statement earrings. For the longest time I reserved them for happy hour or for the weekend, but I am so obsessed with this trend that I wanted to figure out if I could make them work for the office.

After trying out a few outfits with bold earrings, here are a few takeaways I’ve learned about sporting them for the office:

  1. The design of the earring should be streamlined and simple (the drop earrings a chic and act as one unit)
  2. Color is perfectly fine, but make sure you aren’t wearing a ton of colors (I like to limit my statement earrings to two tones) which can be distracting
  3. Make sure they don’t clank/make noise when you walk/move (nothing is more annoying that having that loud noise when you are in a meeting/ on a conference call – plus it can take away from your boss efforts)
  4. Ensure your office’s culture allows for this trend (for example, whenever I am at a client’s office, I will always keep my jewelry simple as to not take away from my purpose there. When I am in my office, I tend to be more bold, since we have a flexible dress code)
  5. OWN IT!

Would you/do you wear statement earrings to the office? I would love to know your tips for rocking them while being a girl boss in the comments below!

P.S. To all my Houston babes, I would love to see you at the Universal Shopping Event on Sunday, October 15th from 1-3PM at the Texas Wine School. You can find out more info here.
