What a week it has been! We’ve been going through our a big project at work so it’s been back to back meetings all day for the past few days. While it’s been super productive to have some face to face time with the teams, I still have so much actual “work” I need to get done. It’s a catch-22. We need the meetings to get the information, but we also have other work that needs to be done. 🙂 And to be seated all day in front of other people, I’m hyper-aware of what I am wearing so that I am comfortable while also feeling that I look professional.

Yesterday, I found myself reaching for this (size inclusive!!) Freya midi skirt from Anthropologie and I remembered why I loved wearing it so much – it is so comfortable! Not only is it one of my favorite cuts, a-line (aka. it is flattering on everyone), but it also contains every color of the rainbow on it, but with the black background, so it is still super neutral to wear to a business casual or casual office.
If you’ve been around SGSB for a bit, you know that I have been on a mission to wear the same item in multiple ways. (If you missed it, be sure to check out how I styled a denim dress and sweatshirt two different ways.) And after becoming smitten with this skirt, I knew I wanted to highlight the versatility of it and how I would wear it both for work and for fun as we start to transition to spring in Houston (aka. the 80 degree weather we are currently having).
For the weekend or a more casual environment, I have found myself pairing this skirt with a colorful sweater which makes the color in the skirt pop. I also added my favorite headband of the moment; while, it’s a bit on the pricier side, I can not tell you how much I reach for this bad boy whenever I feel like I need an extra pop or am having a bad hair day. And if you were on the fence about any of Lele’s headbands, I would say they are made so much better than any other ones on the market and never give me a headache, which is my main complaint for most headbands I wear.
For work, I decided to keep the whole look a bit more neutral by pairing the skirt with a black top, my computer (aka. Blue light blocking) glasses and a great tote (which has a strap on the back which allows me to put this over the handle of my suitcase when I travel). Depending on the time of year, the typical temperature of the office, and what types of meetings I have for the day, I would totally add a black blazer or jean jacket over this top to stay warm.
In addition to both of these ways, I’ve also shared a third way to style it on my latest IGTV Style Sunday Session. If you haven’t seen it yet, make sure to head over to my IG (@EmilySGSB) to check it out!
I hope you have a great weekend, y’all!! And I can’t wait to share a lot more about my work life next week!
