Plaid Off The Shoulder Top

Emily Bastedo from the curvy style blog, Something Gold, Something Blue shares a great fall transition outfit with this adorable off the shoulder plaid top from Anthropolgie, a pair of skinny jeans, Toms wedges and a gorgeous bag from Pinkstix.

Wow! What an amazing and busy week it has been since I posted on this little space! So, I didn’t end up getting called for a court in jury duty. I have mixed feelings about it, because a part of me thinks it would be a great experience to be selected for a jury but then another part of me was really relieved to not have been chosen both because of the timing (it never seems like I there is a good time to get chosen for jury duty – there’s always a critical project at work) and because I am afraid of what I might hear/see during a court case. Anyways – I did my civic duty for the year (or hopefully years) is done and it required me to stay in Houston for the whole week. Which was such a nice change of pace. I was able to go grocery shopping for real (like lots of fresh produce, some fresh (not frozen) chicken and turkey), see some family and friends, run those pesky errands I have been putting off and sleep in my own bed. Y’all I kid you not, I only spent 7 nights in my apartment in the month of September because of all of my travels. It was a fantastic month and I had a great time, but, to me, there is nothing like my own bed. 😀 And having a full 10 days in a row was glorious!!

To cap off a great week, I had a lot of fun weekend activities planned, including a friend’s birthday party where we played bar golf. Have you ever played before? Man, I could not keep up. The goal is to finish the designated drink at each bar within the number of strokes (sips) listed on your scorecard. The number of strokes listed is par, so you can either drink less or drink more. The first drink was fun to see who could get par. After that, I had to drop out – I still had a few more drinks with my friends, but it was at my pace. And I just can’t drink like I used to in college. Now that I think about it – how did I survive college? Sorry for the tangent – anyways, short story: I wore this little number to bar golf and had such an amazing time in it.

When I first laid eyes on this gorgeous top at the opening of the Anthropolgie at Baybrook mall, I immediately fell in love and knew that it had to go home with me. I like to tell myself that it was made just for me. From the flattering cut (my shoulders are one of the parts of my body that I have always loved – even in those insecure junior high school days), to the rich colors to the flared sleeves – it is heaven! And it’s the perfect top to pair with my new bag from Pinkstix. This vegan leather handbag is the perfect shade of brown and is so soft, you will want to keep touching it (I probably look like I am petting it…. I just can’t help myself). And I also love that Pinkstix contributes to movements that empower women. I always love finding brands that have a great product and give back to the community in some way – it’s a nice added touch that warms my heart. Do you have a favorite brand that gives back to the community? Please let me know in the comments below – I would love to check them out!

  10. Now that it actually feels like fall in Houston, I can’t wait to break out some plaid. This top is too cute!!! I know I know of MANY more companies that give back, but right now all I can think of is Bombas-they give one pair of socks to the homeless for every pair purchased. I also really love Pink51. They help you find companies who support women in leadership roles 🙂 Thanks for this great post!
