The Kentucky Derby has always been a staple in my house growing up – my Mom loves watching the Triple Crown races and we always dedicated the afternoons of those races to watch the beautiful horses run. My senior year of college, I had the amazing privilege of going to the Kentucky Derby with a bunch of my friends. It is kind of a tradition for the seniors to take the 6-hour bus ride from South Bend to Louisville to celebrate the end of the school year and the Derby. It was so much fun and I loved being in the historic Churchill Downs. I hope one day, I will get to go back and sit in the grandstand to see more of the race, but I am so grateful that I had the opportunity to go once.
Ever since that trip, I have loved to dress up for and watch the Kentucky Derby every year. My plans tomorrow are going to be a little different than most, I am going to be attending one of my college friend’s wedding. Nonetheless, I thought it would be fun to show off my bridal shower dress and something I would wear to a Kentucky Derby viewing party.
This dress is extremely comfortable but still pulled together! I love the neckline and I couldn’t beat the price (thank you, Target)! I purchased my hat for my trip 3 years ago and try to find any reason to wear it! Also, I think one thing that I learned at Churchill was that comfortable shoes are a must!! These heels are by Me Too and are one of my favorite brands for comfortable shoes. Do you have any plans for the Kentucky Derby?
What a gorgeous shade of the dress! I love how you randomly threw in the hat.
Thanks Mai! I am always looking for reasons to wear my hat! I wish it was acceptable to wear it every day!
