If you are new to SGSB, you may not know that besides my little corner of the Internet, I also work full time as a technology consultant. Typical of the consulting industry, I travel to where my clients are located and work at their location 4 days a week. For the past 3 years, I have been traveling Monday to Thursday pretty much every week (except for December/January of this year – which was so nice). Traveling for work can be exciting and I have been able to experience so many things that I never thought I would be able to, but it can also do a number on my skin. Between the airplane travel, the late nights and eating out every meal, having a skin care routine is essential to maintaining gorgeous skin.
You know the old adage, don’t go to bed without taking off all of your makeup. Well, after working for 10+ hours and then going to dinner with your team until late – all I want to do when I get back to the hotel is fall face first into the bed. And if I am being honest, this has happened multiple times over the past 3 years of being a Road Warrior (aka. the term used to describe people who travel a lot for work and spend more time in hotels than they do their own home). Given my schedule and the amount of time I want/have to spend on my beauty routine before I pass out, I look for products that I can use which will be quick and effective.
When Kleenex approached me a few weeks ago to test out their new facial cleansing products, I quickly said yes. I love their tissues and have grown up with those being my go-to for when that cold or allergy season hit. In their collection, Kleenex has 5 products meant to keep our skin looking radiant and healthy. These products are currently only sold on the Kleenex website, but, trust me y’all, they are worth the wait!
The first step in any cleansing routine is to remove all of the dirt and makeup. Kleenex has developed 2 products that are pre-moistened to quickly remove all the gross stuff that builds up throughout the day! The oil-free Eye Makeup Removers are so soft and took off most of my mascara without leaving a greasy feeling around my eyes.
After I take off my eye makeup, I use the Moist Facial Cleansing Wipes to remove the rest of my makeup. I often avoid makeup wipes because they irritate my sensitive skin, but these did not irritate that much (It irritated the dry spots on my face and the stinging lasted only about 10 seconds – it was probably just the moisture reaching the really dry skin). The amount of dirt and grim it removed shocked me – I couldn’t even post it on here (I was a little too embarrassed :P)
A few times a week, I also like to exfoliate my skin to slough off the dead skin cells. I usually use a combination of liquid-based exfoliating products. Instead of taking up room in my quart-sized TSA approved liquids bag, I often don’t carry these exfoliating products with me, which makes my dry skin look flaky and makes it resistant to moisture (making my dry skin even worse). By using the Kleenex Exfoliating Cushions, I am able to get rid of the dead skin without taking up space in my coveted liquids bag. These cushions are dry and then you add a bit of water and a cleanser forms. One side of the cushion is used to buff/polish while the other one can be used to massage and gently exfoliate your skin. Depending on how dry my skin is, I will use the buffing side, but for every day use I stick to the massaging side.
My absolute favorite product to use while traveling is the Cotton Soft Pads. You never know where the hotel wash clothes have been (I try not to think about it….) and these cotton pads are perfect to dry my face to maintain that clean feeling I just got from the other products.
The fifth product of the collection is the Shine Away Satins, which should be used to absorb excess oil. Since my skin is on the dry side, I didn’t have an opportunity to try them, but they were just as soft as the other products.
Overall, these Kleenex products were a great way to clean my skin quickly and I still can’t get over how soft they are – just like their tissues. Through the end of March, Kleenex is offering all of SGSB’s readers a sample size of their Exfoliating Cushions to test out! Make sure you head here to claim your sample and try one of the products that is helping me to keep my skin gorgeous while I travel!
TIP: As beautiful as the Kleenex packaging is (and I love having it on my bathroom counter), it can be cumbersome to bring with you in your carry on. I recommend putting a few of each of the items in a plastic sandwich bag and you are all set to have gorgeous skin while traveling.
In addition to cleansing your skin, it is essential to moisturize while traveling – the cabin pressure on the airplane really dehydrates your skin, so I recommend purchasing a large bottle of water for your flight and try to finish it before you land. Topical moisture is also essential for longer plane rights and I recommend carrying on a refreshing mist, such as Evian’s Facial Spray and adding a little moisture before and/or after the flight. If it’s an international flight, I would definitely recommend bringing a thicker moisturizer cream or even a moisturizing face mask and applying it once every 6-8 hours after cleansing (there are lots of germs on planes….). I would love to hear your suggestions for maintaining that radiant skin we all desire – I am willing to try everything!

A big thank you to Kleenex for providing me these products in exchange for a review post. All thoughts and opinions expressed in this post are my own and I would not support a product/company I didn’t 100% love.
