Happy 4th of July, y’all!! I hope you are celebrating with lots of watermelon, some pool time and fireworks! I’ll be grilling some burgers, making homemade potato chips and having some cucumber and tomato salad. And of course, watermelon will be served. Couldn’t get more American cook-out, could it? 🙂
During the 4th of July and for all summer cookouts, I have to wear something that is breathable while looking chic. The feel like temps in Houston are over 100 degrees today, so this adorable a-line dress from Old Navy is perfect to celebrate America’s Birthday. Y’all I’m not kidding when I say this dress is one of my favorite items from Old Navy this season. The fabric is a jersey material that is thick enough to where I am not worried about it being see through, which means I can spend more time enjoying my family and the delicious cook-out! This dress also comes in multiple other colors that would be perfect for any summer occasion.
Since I have both red and white covered with my dress, I wanted to add a bit of blue for the full-fledged 4th of July look. This adorable cross-body purse from Charming Charlie is the perfect pop of blue and holds all of the essentials. And I couldn’t forget a great pair of sunglasses to keep my eye protected during this sun-filled day. My whole philosophy on dressing for the summer is to dress for the heat/humidity by finding breathable dresses and keeping the accessories simple, which is why I chose a lightweight watch and statement earrings for a bit of glamour.
