While the holidays are in full swing, I am so excited to share one outfit that I always look forward to planning every year – my New Year’s Eve outfit. While I used to be all about dressing up to go out on the town to celebrate the new year ahead, the past couple of years, I have really wanted to do more low-key events, like celebrating at a friend’s house with lots of great food, some fun drinks and most of all an area where I can catch up with some of my besties.

Lots of things to celebrate this new year's eve

With that in mind, I wanted to share an outfit idea that I think can be worn to most holiday parties, but something I, ultimately, will end up wearing as we say goodbye to 2018. To start the outfit, I found this fabulous green/slate ombre, pleated, velvet skirt. When I first saw it, I immediately fell in the love with the color combination. It was the added twist to a very forgiving and comfortable skirt that is meant for a more casual New Year’s Eve.

Once I decided on the skirt, I was on the hunt for a top that would pair well with this unique find. And what better way to ring in a new season than to have more glitter/tinsel in your life. This shimmery sweater (which I found at Target) adds an added festive touch while still coordinating well with the darker shade towards the bottom of the skirt. Paired with a few simple accessories, this outfit provides the perfect amount of pop while still being extremely comfortable for sitting around with my favorite people to celebrate everything we accomplished in 2018 while looking forward to 2019.

A plus size New Year's Eve outfit that is perfect for a night on the town or a more casual ringing in of the New Year's at a friend's house

When celebrating the New Year, what’s your favorite way to ring it in? Do you make it until midnight? Some years, I don’t (honest to goodness truth, two years ago, I went to bed a 9:30 and do not regret a thing). If you’ve been around SGSB a while, you know that I love my sleep (and I had a 9am SoulCycle class the next day)….#priorities.

Speaking of priorities, during this festive time of the year, I am reminded of the amazing and supportive community that I have around me and how fortunate I am to have been able to meet other fabulous ladies pursuing their passion for fashion, so today I’ve teamed up with Laura and Erin to co-host their weekly blog link up to see some of the amazing outfits y’all are planning to wear this New Year’s Eve. Make sure to scroll all the way to the bottom of this post to leave a link to your countdown outfit!
