Adding color (and personality) at work

I spend the majority of my time in business casual or business formal attire for my “day job” and decided that I am going to start sharing more of my business wear on my little corner of the Internet.  When I first started full-time as a consultant almost 3 years ago (where has the time gone…), I found myself sticking to neutrals almost exclusively. Even though I love wearing bright colors and patterns, I was under the notion that it was “unprofessional” to be bright and bold at the office. BUT, that was a huge mistake! I have learned that to be successful in my client-oriented industry, I needed to be me – a confident me. And I have come to the realization that all of my clients are people too – with lives and no one expects me to be perfect, so why shouldn’t I BE ME ALL THE TIME! Let them see my fun side, my quirky traits instead of always being “professional.”
So, over the past year, I have challenged myself to incorporate more bright colors into my work wardrobe. I figured that I would start with colorful tops paired with neutral pieces to start my wardrobe transition.
I love this top because the peplum from the tie is super flattering and the print really reflects my personality!! There are a ton of different colors like the different “hats” I wear and they are a little all over the place….well, needless to say, I love how I feel in this outfit!! And isn’t that what fashion is about – to express who we are, how we are feeling and to make us feel like our best self? I think so!
I hope you have a fantastic week and are able to add YOUR personality into ALL of your outfits!
