Zipping Up the Fall Weather

Emily Bastedo from curvy style blog, Something Gold, Something Blue is braving the heat of Houston to share this asymmetrical comfy sweater from Lane Bryant. Paired with my favorite Old Navy maroon hat and a functional leopard bag, tassel Kendra Scott necklace and Cole Haan booties, I am so ready for the fall weather.

What is this gorgeous weather we have been experiencing and can it stay like this forever? It’s been in the 70s in the morning and only getting to about 80 degrees in the afternoon. This “fall weather” has still been a bit warm for most of my fall wardrobe, but I am trying to wear a few of my lighter pieces, like this Lane Bryant sweater/tee.

I am pretty obsessed with this sweater because it is so comfortable and is perfect to throw on with a pair of jeans and go to brunch/run errands/or any other fun weekend activity. To add a bit more glam to my outfit for an opening of the new Anthropologie at Baybrook Mall in Friendswood a few weeks ago, I topped my outfit off (pun intended) with my favorite Old Navy burgundy hat I purchased last season. They have an almost identical version this year and I have linked it below. Because of the unique details of the sweater and the colorful hat, I wanted to keep the rest of my outfit simple – a neutral (ok, leopard print) bag, my comfy Cole Haan peep toe mules and one of my favorite Nordstrom Anniversary Sale purchases, my gold Kendra Scott tassel necklace.

This outfit would have been perfect this past weekend, but I didn’t put on real clothes all week because I spent most of my time recovering from my absolutely crazy work week. It was the pinnacle week of my project and what we had been working towards for the past few months and I was so excited it went well, but I was wiped by the end of it. I did a lot of sleeping, talking the laundry pile (which I have been putting off for weeks), running errands and attending a Soul Cycle and Bar Method class. Some weekends are best spent binge watching Gilmore Girls in preparation for the new episodes being available soon and other weekends are jammed packed – it’s about balance, right? 😀

Yesterday, I was summoned for jury duty. And I didn’t get chosen for a court, but I am “on call” the rest of this week, so that means I get to stay in Houston and I can’t travel to my client’s office this week (oh, darn). One thing I learned really quickly today was that if I do have to go back to the courthouse, I will be wearing a sweater and bringing a jacket or cardigan to wear, if needed. It was absolutely freezing in the room – next time, I will be prepared. I hope you have a great rest of your week and that you get closer to reaching all of your dreams!
