Hey y’all! Happy Wednesday! I am so excited to start a new series on SGSB – Work Wear Wednesday. Each Wednesday, I am going to be sharing one of my favorite office appropriate looks. Since I spend 5 days a week (read: a majority of my life) in business casual attire for my full time job, I thought it would be fun to share how I represent my personality and love for color/prints while looking professional and office-ready. So without further ado, here’s my first Work Wear Wednesday look.
OK, so let’s be honest, I haven’t been in as much work clothes this week since I was on vacation last week and in NYC for NYFW (psst…be on the lookout. Friday, I will be sharing all about my first day there), but on Monday I hit the ground running in Atlanta with client meetings starting at 9AM. And this outfit would have been perfect for that day! (Being fully transparent, I didn’t pack this skirt with me this week because it’s fairly thick and would have taken up a lot of room in my already stuffed to the brim suitcase, but I wore this to work a few weeks ago in Houston and got a ton of compliments.)
This pink skirt and white button down look is extremely polished and I would definitely wear it for a big meeting or a day where I need to be on the more formal side of business casual. The “paper-bag” waist adds a unique dimension to this pale pink skirt and still allows me to showcase some of my personality without being over the top for this polished look.
Because this look is on the simpler side, I think it’s extremely versatile. For more of a business formal look, I could see throwing on a black blazer or for a more casual look, I would exchange the button down for a striped black and white sweater and maybe some mules. Bam! 3 different outfit from one skirt. I try to abide by the rule that if you can’t see multiple outfits with one item it can’t be in your closet – but, sometimes you have to break the rules. Luckily, I didn’t have to with this skirt! 😀
Since I travel frequently and don’t have a desk I sit at every day, I need a bag/tote that can hold all of my essentials. And this one from Lo & Sons is absolutely amazing. There are a ton of pockets which allow me to stay organized while on the go and I can carry both of my laptops and iPad with room to spare. Plus I love that there is a separate pocket where I can store my shoes (for when I want to wear my heels to work, but change into flats to make the commute home). And it has a zipper pouch on the back which allows me to slide it over my suitcase handle to easily wheel it through the airport. In my opinion, it couldn’t be a more perfect work bag!
What do you typically wear to work? Do you have any items that you would absolutely never wear there? I would love to hear about them in the comments!
