When I initially thought of this title, transition, I was really thinking about the transition from day to night and how a few quick changes can make the outfit have a very different look. The more I thought about it, the more I was able to relate transition to other areas too! I mean, Houston is just started to feel like fall is on the way, so this outfit is a bit of a transition from the summer to fall weather. I am also moving here in t-minus 2 weeks, which is so exciting (but there is still so much to do….)!! I have lived with my roommate in the same apartment for the past 3 years, but we have made the decision that we are going to move into our own places and embark on that new chapter. I am so excited to be moving into my new place and to decorate it….make sure to check out some of my favorite looks on Pinterest! (Full disclosure – I apologize if I am a little MIA over the next few weeks. With traveling for work, there is a lot to get done on the weekends). Oh, and I know it’s so minor, but my iPhone 6S has arrived and I am picking it up today!! I am so excited!! (YAY for better Instagram pics!!) So, yeah, lots of little transitions going on right now.
On to the fashion, I am all about wearing an outfit that can easily go from day to night and this particular outfit has been a staple over the past few weeks. I wore a version to a celebration dinner we had during the work retreat a few weeks ago (and it passed the dance-ability test)! When I saw these pieces on the Old Navy website, I actually didn’t have the idea to pair them together. I liked each piece individually and had different ideas of how I wanted to style them; but, when I pulled them out of the package, I tried the skirt on with the shirt and was immediately sold!ย By tying the over-sized shirt, it gave me a defined waistline. The skirt is a bit deceiving – it looks like it is a quilted skirt but it is actually made of super-stretchy and thin material (aka. super super comfortable). It’s one of those pieces that I want to wear every single day (but, seriously…).
For the day time, I loved pairing it with my floppy felt hat (also from Old Navy), my most-worn flats – my Tieks and a large bag to carry all of my essentials and then some! Can we talk about floppy hats for a minute? Who else is loving them? I was hesitant that I wasn’t going to be able to style it and feel like I should be at the beach. And, although I always want to be at the beach, the color and texture of this hat make me feel put together and sophisticated.
For the evening look, I wanted to have some fun with it. So, I paired my skirt and top with a statement necklace from J.Crew, Cole Haan mules and a bold burgundy lip. And I can’t forget to mention one of the most adorable purses I think I will ever own. This quickly caught my eye at the Kate Spade store and I kept thinking about it. When I couldn’t find it online, I was extremely disappointed. Thank goodness, the Houston store had it in stock and held it for me for a bit. I’m so glad it is in my collection and I am looking forward to carrying him for years to come. And he always reminds me of the song – what does the fox say….still loving it!
I hope that you have a fantastic weekend, lovelies!!! Mine is going to be spent cleaning out my closet in preparation for the move. Make sure to check out my Poshmark closet for some items that need a new home! (I am currently offering 25% off of most items)!! ๐

Thanks, Madison! I have been all about trying to re-accessorize an outfit to change it’s look and I think this look was my best attempt! ๐ haha.
Obsessing over that hat! I fell in love with a super similar one at Charming Charlies and didn’t buy it, and I totally have buyer’s remorse now. That fox clutch could not be more fun! What a statement piece ๐

Thank you, SS! I totally understand buyer’s remorse! There was a dress at Anthropologie about 6 years ago that I still wish I had purchased. My dad makes fun of me to this day about how much I love that airplane dress! haha! Hopefully, you will be able to find a similar hat – I saw a very close replication at Target…
This is an adorable outfit! I loveeee the clutch!
Thank you so much! I couldn’t resist the clutch – it is just too much fun!

Having a roommate is fun, and an amazing cost-savings, but it’s definitely worth it having your own place!! I love it. Great outfit. I love the color combo.
Oh man, I love transitional outfits. This look has such a great silhouette, and I really love the hat! I agree though, I would feel ridiculous because of the size, but they actually look quite mysterious and feminine. And that fox clutch is so fun! I can see why you hunted it down. I would immediately throw my money at a raccoon version.
