Thrive Blog Conference Party Outfit

Thrive Blog Conference Party - Something Gold, Something Blue fashion blog - Colorful skirt, chambray top and a gold statement necklace may be my favorite party outfit ever

This has to be one of my favorite outfits I have ever worn – let alone featured on SGSB! (Not that I don’t love the outfits I share will y’all on a regular basis, but this one currently has my fashion heart)!

Thrive Blog Conference Party - Something Gold, Something Blue style blog - one of my favorite outfits ever an is perfect for a Friday night party outfit or for an Easter outfit

I had the privilege of attending the Thrive Blog Conference two weeks ago! This was my second year attending and I had such an amazing time last year that couldn’t wait for this year’s conference to be here! On Friday night, the conference hosted a party to informally get to know the other attendees, speakers andΒ  some of the sponsors. The party was such a blast! I was able to chat with bloggers I met last year at the conference, bloggers that I know from stalking following them on Instagram and bloggers that I had not had the privilege of being introduced to previously!

In addition to all of the socialization, there were not one, but 2 photo booths to take pictures in front of, some lovely desserts (including the most scrumptious blueberry macaroons) and a live DJ! It seemed like the night was ending before it even got started, but we made sure to finish with a dance party!! Then a few (ok, like 20 of us) walked over from the Embassy Suites (where the conference was held and where we were staying) to California Pizza Kitchen to grab some bites before calling it a night to make sure we had some beauty rest before the conference on Saturday!

So true story, I bought this skirt off of Etsy! The shop I purchased it from found the fabric that Dolce & Gabbana had used in their Fall 2015 collection and was able to recreate the skirt to fit any size!! When I saw it, I immediately fell in love!Β  I am a huge fan of bright colors and bold prints and because it looked like a child had colored on it – I thought it added that extra hint of adorable! I had remembered seeing this print from Fashion Week and while doing some Google-ing to confirm that it was the exact print, I found out that Helen Miren wore the Dolce & Gabbana dress to the Metropolitan Opera (how cool is that?)! One of the things that I love about the Internet is that it allows us to find items that we never thought we would be able to get our hands on (in my case both because of price point and because of sizing)!

Since the skirt was the statement piece of the outfit, I decided to keep the rest of it simple – a lovely chambray top (y’all I told you I was obsessed this year), my nude heels from JustFab, my monogrammed GiGi New York clutch and this fabulous gold necklace that I received in my current Rocksbox. If you are not familiar with Rocksbox, it is like a subscription service for jewelry. You get 3 pieces at a time and can send them back as much as you want to exchange them for new pieces! I have been a Rocksbox subscriber for over 2 years and have received over 75 different pieces of jewelry! They have lots of brands including Kendra Scott – as a Texas girl, I am obsessed with Kendra Scott as evidenced in many previous posts, including this one. I am so excited to announce that have teamed up with Rocksbox to give each of my readers a 1 month free subscription to their service!! Just use the promo code emilysgsbxoxo at checkout to receive your first month free!

I am still thinking about how much fun I had at the Thrive Blog Conference Party and I can’t wait for next year’s conference to learn more about making SGSB the place I dream it can be and for being able to network with all of the amazing women there!

What I love about Thrive is the bloggers I have met there – they have been so supportive of me and in this world were competition/comparison can get the best of us, helping each other to succeed can be so much more fun! And the blog-osphere is big enough for us all to be successful! So if you are a new blogger or just have a question about my experience or really anything, feel free to leave a comment or email me at emily@somethinggoldsomethingblue.com – I would truly love to pass on my knowledge!

  7. I absolutely LOVE this skirt and the fact that they can make this in any size makes it even more AMAZING! I’m a plus size fashion blogger, and I will definitely be taking a look to feature this in my own blog!

Thank you, Lottie! Yes, I was super pumped to find it in plus size. I am so passionate about fashion, but it can be a bummer that I can’t get my hands on some of the amazing pieces because they don’t make them in my size. I have been so excited to find more plus size brands and designers through Etsy that are trying to change that!
