The Summer Blues

Top: Chico’s | Jeans: Chico’s (similar without polka dots) | Necklace: J. Crew

Bag: Kate Spade (similar) | Shoes: Me Too – old (similar) | Earrings: Marc by Marc Jacobs

As I have mentioned multiple times the past few months, I am obsessed with all things blue this summer (OK- all of the time). I wore this outfit this weekend while running errands and then to dinner with some friends to celebrate a good friend’s birthday. While running errands, I wanted an outfit that was quick, comfortable and able to withstand the heat of Houston! But I also needed this outfit to be able to be worn to dinner because I was going to be in the same part of town and wouldn’t have time to make it back home beforehand.

I have been living in these polka dot jeans this summer. They are so soft and go with almost everything in the summer! And as an added bonus, they are super lightweight. I love this top from Chico’s – I have it in multiple colors because it is so versatile and can be worn with black slacks or a pencil skirt to work or casually to run around in.

I think the statement necklace is what pulled the whole look together and made me feel comfortable to wear the outfit to dinner. For the past few seasons, I have been obsessed with statement necklaces. My philosophy is that they immediately add a touch of sophistication and a little glamour. Some of my favorite places to buy my statement necklaces from are J. Crew (the outlet and sales are the perfect time to buy them), ILY Couture and eBay. I have found some great, inexpensive necklaces on eBay. Just a forewarning, some of them will take up to 3 weeks to arrive. I ordered a necklace hoping to wear it to a concert about a week and a half out and it did not arrive on time, but when it did I was so glad I waited! It was perfect! The one I am wearing is from J. Crew. I got it during one of their sales on their sale items. I think it was originally like $120 and I got it for under $30 (thank you J. Crew sale!).

I am so excited for this week – I am not traveling! And am not supposed to again for about 3 weeks. This is huge!  I think the last time I spent this much time in Houston was about 15 months ago. Traveling as much as I do, there are little things I used to take for granted that I am excited to savor while I am in town (e.g., my entire makeup collection and closet to use everyday, cooking for myself and taking advantage of my favorite fitness classes). I hope that you all have a fabulous week! I am going to try and make the most out of mine! 😀

  1. Cobalt blue looks great on you and works well with the spotty jeans.
