I was compensated by Gwynnie Bee to write this post about my Style Resolutions, but I have been a member of their clothing subscription service for awhile. All opinions are my own. Thank you for supporting me and the brands that make Something Gold, Something Blue possible.
What New Year’s resolutions did you make this year? Did you vow to work out more? Clean out your closet? Or maybe it was to travel more? Well, I didn’t make any significant New Year’s resolutions related to my health (you can read more about my health/fitness journey here), but I was challenged by my favorite clothing subscription service, Gwynnie Bee (aka. the Netflix for clothing), to share a few of my style resolutions for 2017 (aka. my best and most stylish year yet….haha….sorry couldn’t help myself).
I’ll be honest, I will try on almost any type of clothing, but I have found myself reaching for the same types of items – items that I think work well for my body type and makes me feel fabulous. Eventually, it led me to wear somewhat of a “uniform” and to get into a bit of a fashion rut. I know that I have said before that I love finding silhouettes and cuts that work well for my body and how important that is, but sometimes, you need a little nudge to re-try a style or fit and see how you feel about it now.
When Gwynnie Bee reached out to let me know they were hosting this campaign, my initial thought was “I don’t know what style resolution I would want to write about.” After thinking about it and sleeping on it (one of the best ways for me to make my decisions), I started to come up with a few ideas (maybe this is TMI, but while I was taking a shower and getting ready for the day – inevitably, I think I have some of the best ideas while washing my hair, but then I can’t write them down or type them in my phone because of the water #creativestruggles). Ever since I started working, I have steered clear of sheer shirts, because they require a camisole underneath and, for work, a cardigan or blazer to cover up the bra and cami straps (a bra strap showing at work is a big fashion faux pas, in my opinion). And I hate wearing strapless bras, so that’s not an option. Overtime, I slowly transitioned all sheer tops from my wardrobe.
With the ability to wear items from my subscription service that I normally wouldn’t wear, I am easily able to break out of this rut and wear a sheer shirt again. I was able to request this adorable lip print top from Gwynnie Bee, which made me feel more at ease than wearing a solid color. As with any piece of clothing, it is important to find ones that fit properly and with the adjustable belt, this one was almost the perfect fit on me. So long story short, I think I will try and find a few more sheer pieces to add to my wardrobe – maybe they won’t necessarily be for work, but I may be missing out on some amazing pieces like this one, if I don’t change my opinion.
Have you made any style resolutions this year? I would love to see them! If you post them on Instagram, be sure to use the #GBStyleResolutions to join our movement to forgo those “fashion rules” and wear the items that we love and make us feel amazing!

Aren’t subscription services, great? They are the perfect way to try new things!
I totally got away from sheer tops for the exact same reason!! Recently, I found myself in a similar type of fashion rut where I was going for the same type of looks! This is a great reminder to think / dress outside of the box every once in a while! A subscription box is SUCH a great way to try pieces you normally wouldn’t!
I totally agree – I love my subscription because it has allowed me to try so many things! And isn’t it crazy how easily we can get into a fashion rut? Thanks for stopping by!
That top looks really cute on you. So pretty.

Thank you so much, Emily! The flats are extremely comfortable! I always reach for my Tieks first and practically live in them.
Such a cute top, I love the little lip details. I actually don’t have many sheer tops, but something I’m willing to look into. :]

I DEFINITELY have a style “uniform” and need to break out of it every now and then. Love that top!
Thanks so much, Lexi! I find myself reaching for the same items/styles frequently and this challenge was a great way to try something a bit differently than what I would normally do!
I love your printed blouse and can relate to the hate of strapless bras! Great post, girlfriend!
