Happy St. Patrick’s Day, y’all!! I’m actually sporting some green today to celebrate my Irish heritage and my love of the Fightin’ Irish (I went to Notre Dame for college and am now brainwashed/obsessed with ND for life). Celebrating St. Patty’s Day when I was in college are some of the best memories of my time there, so today to celebrate, I’ll be making Irish Soda Bread and some corned Beef (and some green beer)! Do you have any fun Irish-related plans this weekend?
So, if I’m being honest for a minute, I was hungover when we shot these photos. I wasn’t planning on even going out that night, but last minute plans are usually some of the best times – and this night sure was. I went out to the Rodeo Cookoff, which the opening event prior to the Houston Rodeo and can basically be described as a lot of parties to celebrate BBQ, Country Music, the rodeo and of course, the drinks were flowing. We ran into some friends and co-workers and decided (after a few mixed drinks) that doing tequila shots was a smart idea. And they were fun, until the next morning when I woke up with a headache. But the show/life must go on and so I got up when my alarm went off, got ready and met up with Lauren to shoot this adorable (in my opinion) spring look.
I love this outfit and I think it is perfect for Spring because this top features two of my favorite trends this season – it’s gingham and off the shoulder. Two of my favorite things rolled into one – how could I pass it up? And it was perfect to pair with the “IT” shoes of 2017, these Steve Madden wedges. I’m sure you’ve seen them featured on
a few other blogger’s accounts and I can tell you why we are completely head over heel in love with these babies (pun intended). First of all, they are affordable while still looking chic. At DSW, I was able to get them for under $60. Secondly, they are the perfect height and extremely comfortable. I often wear flats because I hate when my feet hurt, but these are a great alternative to flats because they feel like they are only about 2 inches tall (I mean they are taller, but with the platform, it feels like I am wearing a shorter heel). Plus, they come in a couple different colors that are perfect for the spring and summer. I am so excited that I was able to get my hands on them this year and know that I will be wearing them on repeat this season.
Be sure to follow me on Instagram because I am heading up to NYC next Tuesday (I may have mentioned this a time or two or twenty on my Instagram recently – I’m not excited at all) and I have some super amazing things planned and will be sharing my adventures on InstaStories. Don’t worry though if you don’t use Insta, I’ll do a re-cap of my trip here in a few weeks. I hope y’all have a fabulous weekend! And Happy St. Patrick’s Day!!
