SGSB’s SoulCycle Ride on Saturday

SoulCycle has become more than a workout in my life. It has also become my therapist, life coach and stress reliever. Something Gold, Something Blue is so excited to be teaming up with SoulCycle Memorial to throw a SGSB ride on Saturday, January 21st.

How many of you set a New Year’s Resolution to be healthier? Maybe it was to eat more veggies, drink, more water or exercise more? I didn’t decide to have a resolution at the beginning of 2017, because I set some new goals for myself around my birthday last year. For so long, I have let distractions get in the way of taking care of myself. Mainly it was work, and the travel schedule that came with work. Then this little blog started to pick up a bit and I wanted to continue writing and  sharing more content with all of you. I wasn’t getting enough sleep, was spending way too much time in front of electronics and not spending enough face time with the people that mattered to me. And I was letting stress and my emotions get the best of me.

Lucky for me, SoulCycle had opened their first Texas studio 3 miles from my house and I had been spending every Saturday morning for the past two months clipping in and falling in love with a 45 minute spin class. If you are unfamiliar with SoulCycle, it’s a spin/cycle studio, but I think it’s much more than that. It’s a community that rides together to the beat of the music which helps to keep me accountable to my neighbor and inspired by the riders around me. Every class is a journey where I learn something new about myself with the help of the inspirational words spoken by the fabulous instructors. I guess, it’s become my workout spot, life coach, therapist and stress reliever wrapped up into a 45 or 60 minute class.

The cliche, “find something you love and you will never work a day in your life,” also applies to how I view workouts. So after seeing a few changes starting to occur to my body, I decided to make some new goals to help me feel great on the inside and out.

Since then, I have have re-adjusted some of the goals I set, but one thing that hasn’t changed is that I still clip into the bike on Saturday mornings. The only thing that changed is I have graduated to an hour long Soul Survivor class at 9:30AM instead of my previous 10:45AM class. I couldn’t imagine spending my Saturdays mornings any differently and even made it to class after a late night of drinking (not that I recommending it) to celebrate my brother’s birthday a few weeks ago. SoulCycle has truly become one of my favorite places to go to. When I step inside the studio, my worries roll away and I feel like I am warrior on the bike.

I am so excited to be teaming up with SoulCycle Memorial this weekend to throw a party on the bike. Y’all – SGSB is officially throwing our first blogging event at SoulCycle and I could not be more excited!! It has been a dream of mine to collaborate with the company that has taught me to fight for what I want in life and that with a positive attitude and determined mindset I can get through any road bump (or hill) that I encounter.

Barb – Thank you so much!! I totally feel you about the price. I made the decision a few months back to prioritize working out, which means I had to cut back in other areas of my life (aka. going out to the bars, eating out, etc) to allow for my weekly hobby. And some months, it may not be possible to attend as often. I also try and take advantage of any specials they run to make the individual classes fit within my workout budget. At the end of the day, I am extremely fortunate to be able to attend and to re-prioritize my budget.

  3. Spin class is my favorite workout! I’m addicted to it. I started taking classes at the gym and then transitioned to at home spin classes. I can’t get enough of it.

I am in the same boat, Krystal! I clipped into my first spin bike about 2.5 years ago and am completely obsessed with it. It would be so awesome to have a bike in my home to workout with. The new Peleton bikes/systems are super intriguing – it seems like you can take a live class from the comfort of your home.
