Last Thursday, I had the honor to “Set the Stage” for fall fashion with five other fabulous blogger babes at Palais Royal in Meyerland. The Set the Stage event was a blast and I am so thankful I had the opportunity to get to showcase my style, meet so many amazing people and partner with Palais Royal!

The night started by getting dolled up with the co-hots of the event, ShaKera, Michelle, Lan, Alessandra and Renee! I had the opportunity to have my makeup done by the makeup artists from Elizabeth Arden (kind of funny because I just saw War Paint when I was in NYC, which is all about the rivalry between Elizabeth Arden and Helena Rubenstien). I loved how the artist used a similar color eyeshadow to compliment the color the dress while making the smokey eye and it was such a treat to be pampered!

Once we had our “War Paint” (aka. makeup) on, we started taking lots of photos, including in the fun photobooth (they had props), while we waited for everyone to arrive to start the fashion show and shopping event. There may have also been an impromptu dance party once the DJ started playing some of my favorite jams…

As it got closer to our runway show, I was completely surprised when my friends showed up for the event (I think I was speechless for a good 10 minutes) and I couldn’t of been more thankful for  everyone who came out to support myself and the other bloggers – we had such an amazing group there and the energy was electric!! After mingling with all of the attendees, we got lined up and ready to strut our stuff on the runway. Surprisingly, I wasn’t nervous at all – until I hit my first pose and then my mind went kind of blank until I was behind the curtain dancing with the other bloggers! My favorite part of the whole night was definitely when we all did the final walk together to showcase our fall fashions. After the show was over, we did what we love to do – we shopped!

In addition to the outfit I wore, I also had the opportunity to style one of the mannequins featured in the store during the event.  The lace, embroidered off the shoulder top, featured on the mannequin below, immediately caught my eye when I was shopping because it was a gorgeous color and would be perfect for the Houston fall because it was breathable and off the shoulder.

The other look I styled: Off the Shoulder Top | Skinny Jeans | Black Crossbody Purse | Black Booties

So, why did I choose these items for fall?

Well, let’s talk about the dress outfit first. If you only want to invest in one trend this fall – you should definitely wear velvet. It is everywhere right now and it is so soft to wear. Plus because it’s a thicker fabric, it hides some of those little lumps and bumps without much effort. What’s even better about this dress is that it’s sleeveless, so I can look ready for the fall while it’s still 90+ outside in Houston. Paired with an oversized jean jacket, a tan pair of booties and a fun, fold-over clutch, this outfit can easily go from brunching or to an evening out on the town.

If you’ve been around SGSB for a while, you know that I love love love the off the shoulder/cold shoulder trend, so this fall, lace embroidered top was immediately one of my favorite pieces at Palais Royal. With it’s rich wine color, I dressed it down with a pair of skinny jeans, black peep toe booties and a crossbody bag. This would be a great travel day outfit or even a great date night outfit. And another one of the trends for this season is a statement sleeve – this top definitely checks that box with the embroidery on the bell sleeve. What fall trend are you currently wearing/looking for?

Overall, the night was a fantastic experience – I loved being able to shop some of my favorite fall fashion trends at a reasonable price and I can’t wait for another dance party with these ladies in the near future. Be sure to check out the Palais Royal site where mine and my fellow blogger babe’s fall favorite picks are easy to shop! Have a fantastic weekend, friends!
