Hi y’all! Thank you for stopping by Something Gold, Something Blue (SGSB), a Houston curvy style and fashion blog – I am so excited and grateful that you decided to spend time here! SGSB started as a creative outlet and way for me to share my passion for fashion, beauty products and travel, but has grown into this amazing space where I have been able to share my loves and connect with some amazing people! If I don’t know you, make sure to say hello either here, on social media or, maybe, even, in person!
I post on SGSB twice a week, on Tuesdays and Fridays, and hope that you will join me on my journey of body positivity, curvy fashion and navigating a male-dominated career !
So, who is this Emily person, anyways?
I graduated from the University of Notre Dame (Go Irish!) and moved back to Houston, TX to work as a cybersecurity consultant five years ago. Typical of the consulting industry, I am often traveling four days a week and living out of a suitcase. I love everything bold and beautiful, am slightly obsessed with everything at Sephora, am subscribed to more magazines that I can count, love college football and I am on a journey to live a healthier lifestyle. I love puppies, group fitness classes (especially spin, pilates, and barre) and am always accessorizing (hello, statement necklaces). I am obsessed with Broadway and love visiting New York City. I love to try different fashion trends, but tend to stick to a preppy, southern girl look! Overall, I’m just a 20-something trying to navigate my way though the “real world.”
The motto I live my life by and try to incorporate into SGSB is:
Follow your dreams and to feel beautiful while doing it!
Can I be real for a second?
Even though I love fashion, makeup, accessories and everything in between and love talking about them, I do not think that they can make up for self-confidence. I hope that I never make you feel like you need make-up or a certain type of clothing to be beautiful. What makes you beautiful is your personality, your brain, your strength, your passions, and, most of all, your uniqueness – no one can be you, so shine! My passions are an art form that I can change daily but still use the same canvas. Even though you are looking into one or two of my passions through SGSB (and I hope you’ll see more of them throughout my little corner of the Internet), I hope you know I strongly believe that in God’s eyes and in my eyes, I am BEAUTIFUL because of who I am as a person! AND SO ARE YOU!! So, embrace something new to love about yourself and show the world what you are made of!
