This week has me seriously thrown off y’all! With traveling for work on Sunday night instead of Monday morning and then being able to come back to Houston on Monday night instead of Thursday night – I keep thinking that it should be the weekend already (and we are not even close…). I always seem to get so confused whenever my routine gets out of order….does that ever happen to you? Well, needless to say, this post went up a day later than I was planning, but hopefully it doesn’t disappoint! 😀
So, since I keep thinking that this is the weekend, I wanted to share one of my more casual looks that I have been obsessed with so far this summer! I found this top at JCPenney when I was looking at their new Boutique+ collection (did you see last week’s post that featured all of those goodies? If not, check it out here). I was shopping online, so I didn’t know if I was going to love this top because it was long sleeved and Houston just gets WAY too hot in the summer to be wearing long sleeves, but I did as I always love to do – I purchased it and figured I could always return it if I did not like it. Y’all – I could not have fallen more in love with this top when I tried it on. It is made of some of the softest material and it breathes! I have literally worn this top multiple times in one week – it can easily be dressed down with flat sandals and some shorts for an afternoon of blogging or running errands or it can be dressed up (like it is here) for a fun dinner (or brunch)!
Because I was dressing this outfit up to go to happy hour with some friends, I decided to go with my favorite distressed capris to give a little juxtaposition from the polished gingham top. I added these strappy black heels from Just Fab and a great pair of sunnies to block those nasty UV rays (and prevent me from squinting)! Because I like to keep my load light when going to happy hour, I decided to ditch the purse and go with the cutest Flamingo wallet I got for my birthday last year! I love how the colors from the wallet help to add a bit of a pop from the (more) neutral outfit! And, of course, some turquoise Kendra Scott earrings pull the colors from the wallet into the outfit that much more! Seriously y’all – if you catch me in this outfit a few times this summer, can we just pretend that I don’t live in it? K, thanks!
And how fun is this photo location? I love how the palm trees were reflected in the Sprinkles window!! And btw, I have always wanted to shoot in front of Sprinkles because I am slightly obsessed with cupcakes (one time one of my college friends and I did a cupcake crawl in NYC – like a bar crawl, but with cupcakes…the obsession is real y’all)…and Sprinkles was the place that started the cupcake trend (and I may frequent the location), so it just made sense to me…hehe!
