I got to work from Houston this week! I can’t even begin to explain how much of a joy and relief it was working from home (rather than traveling to another city Monday-Thursday). I did end up doing a bit of traveling – at least it was only an hour and a half drive to College Station (where Texas A&M is) yesterday to help with some of my company’s recruiting activities today and celebrate being a woman working in technology. Besides being a bit of a spaz and trying to get my life together (including trying to figure out my taxes – adulting is hard y’all), it has been a great week!
The weather on the other hand, can’t really decide what it wants to do (sound familiar to my life?). Houston was cooler last weekend, in the eighties early in the week and then yesterday it was in the low to mid 60s – just gorgeous! But with the constant fluctuations in temperatures, I have been extremely cognizant of bringing cozy cardigans and sweaters with me to stay bundled up, if needed. I immediately fell in love with this cardigan from Lilly Pultizer when I saw it in the Houston store a couple of months ago. It has a subtle pattern made of gold thread that can instantly glam up and outfit, but is also subtle enough to wear into the office (I’m actually wearing it today for the recruiting event). Unfortunately, I haven’t seen it online since then, but I will keep my eyes peeled and let you know if it happens to pop up somewhere! This cooler weather is also amazing because I have been able to wear my OTK boots a few more times before it becomes way too hot to wear them. I may or may not have worn them at least 3 days this week…
I am really excited for this weekend!!! It’s a 3 exclamation point worthy celebration going on over here…I’m shooting some new looks for the blog on Saturday morning (I just love spring and am so happy to start sharing more dresses and skirts) and then Sunday is jam packed with fun! I’ll start my day having a delicious brunch (and I’m sure mimosas) with my gal pals, including a few I haven’t seen in over a year. Why do people have to move away? Anywho – I am so so excited to see them and catch up with these amazing ladies who inspire me to work hard to achieve my dreams. Then it’s off to bowling – I don’t think I mentioned it here, but you may have seen it on my InstaStory last Sunday, I joined a bowling league with a few Notre Dame alums. Eek! I am absolutely horrendous at bowling – It’s so bad that I was super excited to knock down a few pins in each frame last week, but it has been so much fun getting to know new people, catch up with a few of my classmates. Who knows, maybe by the end of the season, I will be a bowling pro?!? To finish off the fabulous day, my family and I are going to Brennan’s to celebrate their 50th anniversary! I can’t wait to have some Shrimp & Grits!
P.S. After writing the text of my posts, I always try to go back and read it to make sure I am not a rambling idiot and it all makes sense. As I was re-reading this last paragraph, it struck me how grateful I am to have a jammed packed Sunday filled with people I love. This blog has changed my life in more ways that I can count, but being surrounded by so much love, support and encouragement from my family, blogger friends and all of you that read SGSB, is a constant reminder of how much love there is in the world and how a little bit of love by each of us can probably change the world (or at least someone else’s world)! Thank you for letting me share my life with all of you!
P.P.S. So, I probably just made this post a rambling mess and it’s probably just as spaz-y as I have been this week, but I couldn’t help but write what was on my heart today. Thanks again for stopping by and I hope you have a fabulous weekend filled with love!
