Kicking Off Summer with Lane Bryant

This post is sponsored by Lane Bryant in exchange for product. All opinions are my own.

How is it already May? Seriously, I was in a meeting yesterday and starting writing Feb….and then caught myself. I am seriously stuck in the past right now and need something to bring me into reality. Cue the hot (not even warm) Houston weather. I was absolutely loving the spring weather we had and then *wham* the humidity rolled in alongside it’s best friend, the heat.

With the beginning of summer in Houston fast approaching, I need to start switching out all of my cold weather gear with all of the dresses, skirts, sleeveless everything and sandals! While I am still trying to be on my Marie Kondo kick and am limiting how much clothes I am bringing into my closet, there are still a few items that I “need” to get my hands on because they will bring me joy and go with the summer trends! (that’s what it is all about, right?)

One of the first places I decided to take a look at for summer essentials was Lane Bryant. They always have quality pieces that can easily take me from work to play and can be mixed and matched for different seasons. Y’all, let me tell you – narrowing down the pieces to share with you was tough! There are so many great pieces that I currently have sitting in my cart. So, without further ado, let’s talk about my favorite summer trends for 2019:

Gingham

Off the Shoulder Gingham Top that is a definite YES!!

My favorite print and largest weakness when it comes to spring and summer trends is gingham. If I could have a closet just full of gingham, I would be living in my fashion heaven. Combine this print with my favorite style, off-the-shoulder, and I think the perfect top was just created.

One-Piece Standouts

Red Statement Jumpsuit | Floral Wrap Romper

A few summers ago, I decided to take the plunge and tried a bold jumpsuit for the first time. Given my curves, I didn’t think I would be able to wear a pant/top combo, but it’s all about finding the right fit and print for your body. Both the jumpsuit and romper from Lane Bryant would be perfect to dress up with a pair of heels and statement earrings or wear casually with a pair of sandals and sunnies this summer.

Staples

Navy High Low Skirt

While I have a tendency to always choose the bold colors and prints, I am slowly realizing that I need to find more pieces that I deem are “staples” or items that can be paired with a ton of pieces in my closet. This skirt is one of those pieces that is a great transition for me because it has a bit of flair in the silhouette, but can easily be paired with the gingham top above or with the white tee.

Florals at Work

Blue Floral Belted Blazer

Spending every weekday in business casual can start to get monotonous, but this light blue floral jacket totally breaks up the black I typically wear. I’m already thinking of all of the meetings I am going to kill in this jacket….

Bold Workout Pieces

Floral Draped Workout Top | Blue Tie Dye Workout Top

Getting to the gym is half the battle when it comes to staying healthy. When wearing a fun top, like both of these, I think it’s going to be hard to convince me to not want to flaunt it outside of my apartment.

Lace + Denim

Jean Shorts with Lace Detail

I love the juxtaposition of having lace and denim paired with each other – a super light and airy fabric with the thick jean material. What’s even better about these shorts in particular is the length of them – they are that perfect mix of not being too long or too short – they are just right!

Also, if you are in the Houston area, I am going to be at the Lane Bryant in Meyerland on Saturday (5/4) from 2-4 shopping with all of you for the Lane Bryant Summer Kick Off Party! I would love to see you there!
