I hope y’all had a fabulous weekend! Mine was jam packed, but so much fun! I started the weekend with some Soul (Cycle) and ended it by celebrating Mother’ Day with my family (even more soul)…. 😀 And in the middle I added a bit of Lemonade (aka. The Beyoncé concert). If you get the chance to attend, I highly recommend it! She mixed in some of her new songs with some of her greatest hits (although no Single Ladies) and even some Destiny’s Child. And I don’t want to spoil it, but the finale was something I have never seen before – so fabulous!!!
But back to Mother’s Day…. To celebrate all of the wonderful things my Mom has done for my brother and I, we started the day by having brunch at one of her favorite restaurants, Brennan’s in Houston. I wanted my outfit to be fun while still fit the ambience of Brennan’s (it is more on the formal/traditional side, or as formal as Houston gets). I decided to showcase one of the hottest trends this season with an off the shoulder dress from Eloquii! When I first saw this dress online, I fell in love. I have always been slightly obsessed with seersucker and this blue and white striped number reminds me of it. Plus, it is off the shoulder, which is a trend I hope stays around for a long time!
Then to add a bit of party to the bottom (classic on the top, party on the bottom – that can be a thing, right?), I paired this dress with these adorable Kate Spade Ice Cream Truck wedges (ok, they are actually called the Dotty Wedges, but I like to call them what they are)!! I swooned when I first saw these not only because of the fun details, but because of the color! This aqua color is gorgeous!! I imagine wearing them with a white linen dress or with a pair of capris and white tee – so many possibilities. And because they are a statement piece, accessories are not required (although I will probably still wear them)!
Speaking of accessories, I used one of my favorite clutches, from GiGi New York to carry the essentials (although I am really considering purchasing their new design, Stella, how gorgeous and fun is this color? And it is a little bit bigger, so I will be able to carry more lipsticks and other non-essentials! Do I need it, y’all? Please let me know in the comments below what you think about it!) I also wore simple earrings and bangle to add a bit of something without over doing it. You know the quote from Coco Chanel, “Before you leave the house, look in the mirror and remove one accessory,” that is a really hard thing for me, but I am trying to simplify if I am wearing a statement piece, but I love so many bold things….
Needless to say, we had a fabulous Mother’s Day brunch! If you didn’t catch my Instagram from Sunday with my Mom, you can check it out here and see where I got some of my style from! Wishing you all the best this week – I hope it feels like a short one!
P.S. I also have a confession to make – I may have worn this same outfit to a blogger brunch the weekend before. Yep, it’s definitely one of the favorites of the season! I mean, how could it not be? I’m wearing ice cream truck wedges 😛
