Dressing for all of the holiday season functions can be difficult epecially when you work long hours. Emily Bastedo from the curvy style blog Something Gold, Something Blue, is sharing her solution by styling a red plaid skirt and unique black sweater from Eloquii paired with gorgeous and comfortable Just My Size blackout tights and Tieks.

I cannot believe that we are less than 2 months away from Christmas. How did we get here, already? I know that Halloween still hasn’t arrived, but I’ve started planning some of my holiday outfits….(Christmas season is definitely one of my favorite seasons of the year. I noticed that everyone has a bit of pep in their step – maybe it’s due to that holiday cheer – and everyone seems to be a bit nicer this time of year). Since the holidays can also be jammed packed with great events (read: stressful), I wanted to share one of my favorite work looks that can easily be glammed up for an event later in the evening. I’ll be sharing my “glammed up” version of this outfit on Tuesday, so be sure to check back to see the post. Or sign up for the SGSB newsletter to be informed of any new post that is published.

When I first laid my eyes on this red plaid and houndstooth skirt from Eloquii, I immediately fell in love. The a-line cut is my go-to in skirts/dresses and I loved the print. Added to that the small pleats add a great dimension to any outfit. For the day time, I love to pair this skirt with a classic sweater, like this Eloquii one. And I love that the sweater has the flutter sleeve detail for a bit of of added glamour for the daytime.

As we start to get into December, I begin to wear tights more often because I love to wear skirts and dresses all year round, but my legs get so chilly. I was introduced to Just My Size when I was at the Full Figured Fashion week in New York in June. If you haven’t heard of Just My Size, they are affiliated with the Hanes brands and have products specially designed with curvy women in mind. I was thoroughly impressed by the products I was able to see at Full Figured Fashion Week and was ecstatic when the brand rep reached out a few weeks ago to let me know they had released the blackout tights and asked if I would be interested in trying them and sharing my opinion on SGSB – I immediately jumped at the opportunity and I am so glad I did!

Y’all, I cannot believe how soft and comfortable these Just My Size blackout tights are. They have a control top in the them, but feel silky on my skin and are not constricting my stomach (one suggestion – always size up in hosiery, especially if you are on the cusp of two different sizes. I believe they will snag less because they have bit more wiggle room and I think they are  more comfortable) And let’s talk about the price – the Just My Size blackout tights are under $10. I, inevitably, snag my tights after wearing them only a few times. Being able to purchase gorgeous, comfortable and affordable tights is essential for me when trying to wear them for 12+ hours at a time for both work and play during the holiday season.

What do you look for when buying tights? Do you snag yours often, as well? Let me know in the comments, below!

I love tights! I typically look for ones that are fairly light weight since I live in florida. I also like them to be really soft! Black is usually my go to color
