#HereIAm

Disclosure: Thank you to JCPenney for collaborating with Something Gold, Something Blue to share this message with all of you. They provided me compensation for this post. However, this is a message that I strongly believe in and all opinions are my own. Please see my disclosure policy for more details and thank you for supporting SGSB!

Today I'm sharing the first video in the Ashley Nell Tipton docuseries with JCPenney which goes behind the scenes as she prepares her line for the JCPenney Boutique+ line. #HereIAm | Something Gold, Something Blue curvy fashion blog by Emily Bastedo

Y’all I am so exited and honored to be partnering with JCPenney again to share the next installment of the #HereIam campaign! If you didn’t catch my first post about this fabulous body positivity campaign in June, be sure to check it out here! If you have followed SGSB for some time, you probably know that I am extremely passionate about wanting everyone, especially young women, to feel beautiful about themselves and know that your size does not, and will NEVER define you!

When I attended The Curvy Con in June, JCPenney debuted the #HereIAm campaign, which focuses on celebrating the things we love to do and not letting our size or society’s mold hold us back from the things we love. It’s about self-love and knowing your self-worth! I’ve been curvy my whole life, but I honestly believe that we have all struggled to find confidence in our appearance at some point or another (maybe it was that awkward phase we had in junior high or maybe it was this morning). No matter when we last experienced it, we all know how difficult it can be to feel that way and then to have the added pressure to fit into “society’s perfect body” is just overwhelming. Personally, I choose every morning to embrace and to love who I am- not for the number on the label, but for the size of my heart and personality. Some days are easier than others….but, ultimately, the more I do it, the easier it is becoming (some days I don’t even think about it). I try to view body positivity as a journey – some days I might feel down-right crappy, but there are those days that I feel spectacular (and a great outfit any day doesn’t hurt the cause).

Speaking of a fabulous outfit – one of the most exciting collaborations that has been on my radar since they announced it in the Spring is Ashley Nell Tipton’s collection for Boutique+ at JCPenney. If you didn’t see my first outfit from Boutique+, you can check it out here. Boutique+ is a plus-size lifestyle collection (sizes range from 0X to 5X) sold exclusively at JCPenney and designed with a curvy body in mind. I am so exited that I only have to wait a few more days (12 to be exact) until Ashley Nell Tipton will debut her fall 1950s-inspired capsule collection for Boutique+ during a shoppable fashion show on September 6th (how cool is this – while the runway show is going on, we can purchase the collection on JCP.com)! Based on the pictures I’ve seen (and included in this post), I am beyond excited to get my hands on some of these pieces!

And that lipstick print, y’all!!!! At The Curvy Con, we received a scarf with this print and it is the cutest thing – I know that I will be adding at least one more lipstick item to my closet! If you want a behind the scenes look at how the adorable winner of Project Runway, Ashley Nell Tipton, prepared her line for JCPenney, be sure to check out the docuseries video below (psst…I even spied some outfit renderings, which I am really hoping are of items that will be in her new line.)

I hope you join in with us for this campaign and celebrate how beautiful each and everyone of us is – be sure to use the hashtag #HereIAm when posting on social media, so I can check it out that fabulous outfit that I know you are rocking!
