Happy 3rd Birthday, SGSB!!

Kate Spade Lexi Taxi Heels are the perfect heels to celebrate my third year of blogging! | Something Gold, Something Blue a curvy fashion blog by Emily Bastedo

It always amazes me when this day arrives! I can’t believe I sat down and wrote my first blog post on this little corner of the Internet 3 years ago. I look back on that day when I was sitting in my hotel room in San Fransisco and reading some of my favorite blogs. It was a particularly frustrating day at work and I was looking for a place to express myself and my creativity. Without fully understanding what blogging entails (heck, I know I don’t even know the full extent of it all now….but I have continued to learn so much these past few years), I created an account and starting writing.

I thought that I would originally start this little corner of the internet as a place to chat about beauty products because I loved Sephora and could walk out of there spending way too much money on products. But, eventually, I decided to transition to add more fashion posts while still dabbling in beauty. And soon, I was chatting mainly about fashion! That is one of the amazing things about this blog – it is my space to write about some of my favorite things. Working in corporate America, I don’t always have the opportunity for my opinion to be heard (not that it is a bad thing – it is just the way it is), so this space has allowed me to be adventurous and explore my passions, discover who I am, meet so many amazing people and, over the past year, start to gain even more confidence in myself.

What a better way to celebrate my blogging anniversary than by dressing up, eating cake and taking a ton of photos. | Something Gold, Something Blue a curvy fashion blog by Emily Bastedo

Blogging has brought me so many amazing experiences, friendships and opportunities I would have never dreamed of! Since today is my 3rd Blogiversary, I wanted to share three of the things SGSB has introduced to my life that I am the most thankful for:

  1. The community of amazing people. – When I created my first account, I would have never thought that there were so many women I would meet, both in real life and virtually. And this Houston blogging community is beyond words. I have loved getting to know each and everyone of you these past few years and am so thankful for your friendship!
  2. Helping me find my confidence. – Where do I even begin with this one. I think this could be it’s own blog post. Because of the support so many of you have shown me, I have started to see myself wanting to take more risks, both in fashion and in life; including, sharing my journey towards self acceptance and body positivity!
  3. And I saved the best for last – all of you! Thank you for all of your support these past 3 years!! It has meant more to me than I could ever express on this post. Your comments have made my growth and success mean so much more, so thank you!!! Thank you for following me on social media. Thank you for subscribing to my newsletter. Thank you for stopping by to see my new posts. I cannot say thank you enough!

It's been such a fun journey these past 3 years blogging on Something Gold, Something Blue. Thank you to everyone for all of your amazing support throughout this journey! |Something Gold, Something Blue a curvy fashion blog by Emily BastedoBefore I log off today to meet up with some Houston blogging babes to learn how to be a better blogger, I want to take a moment to thank each and everyone of you for making this journey so incredible! This past year alone has been spectacular let alone the 2 years prior. I am so excited to see what this next year of blogging entails for me, but knowing I have a supportive community behind me, I am certain I will have so many more amazing memories ahead!

Thank you!! Thank you!! Thank you!! Without all of you, these past three years would not have nearly been as fun!!
