I hope y’all had an amazing Easter weekend! I sure did! It was so great to be able to spend some time with family, be reminded of the joys of Easter, enjoy some great food and to take a step back and relax.
One of the things I decided to focus on in March was to enjoy the simplicity of life, which for me means slowing down…It’s not always the easiest for me because I thrive under the pressure of having a full plate of things to accomplish, but I’m slowly learning to put the to-do list and phone away and take a bit of time for me – whether that’s tapping it back on the bike at SoulCycle a few times a week, grabbing a glass of wine with friends or simply reading a book. It’s been liberating y’all, because my to-do list is never ending (there is always something I can be doing – whether it’s studying for my professional certification or responding to the mountain of emails in my inbox) – I’m sure most of you can relate. If you can and feel like you want to slow it down a bit, I want to challenge you to do something for yourself this week. Maybe it’s taking 5 minutes to stretch or meditate before bed or maybe it’s sitting down to enjoy a cup of coffee. It can be anything you enjoy doing that adds back to your tank/spirit. From my personal experience, taking small steps to change my habits, such as always making myself busy, has been extremely beneficial in helping these new habits stick. And by making small changes and seeing the changes in my life, I am inspired to make a little bit bigger of a change the next time. If you decide to take me up on my challenge this week to slow down a bit this week and recharge, I would love to hear about your experience in the comments below!
On to the fashion….you may have seen this fun, floral, off the shoulder dress on Instagram on Saturday and it has been on major repeat. If it didn’t have to be washed, I would definitely be like the girl in the Tide & Downy commercial and this would be my princess dress that I lived in. hehe. Just kidding, but seriously, I am obsessed with this dress because it’s extremely comfortable and so versatile. It’s midi length also lends to me grabbing it more often because it’s practically throw and go. And because this print is so gorgeous, I decided to opt for simple gold and cognac accessories to complete my look. (psst…I love reaching for longer length dresses because there is honestly less for me to think about matching/coordinating, which leaves more time to spend doing the things that bring me joy).
Have a fabulous week! I’m still working from Houston and have been enjoying not having to travel for the past 2 months (except for my amazing vacation to NYC)! I’m trying to fit in as much as possible (read: lots of workout classes and catching up with friends) before I start traveling again in May. I’m going to be trying to do more Instagram stories during the week, so be sure to follow along over there (@EmilySGSB), if you aren’t already! See y’all back here next Tuesday where I’m going to be sharing about something that has been weighing on my heart/inspired by one of the musicals I saw in NYC!

Love to see that you’re trying to take more time for yourself. I’ve been trying to make time to meditate every day – even for 10 minutes – just to get in the right space to start my day and it makes such a big difference.
Thank you so much, Mae!! Meditation is another great way to slow down and I am so glad that you have had such a great experience with it! I try to do it before I go to bed to help settle my mind and I have noticed that I sleep more soundly when I do.
