Being a consultant has many perks, including being able to travel to new cities for work each week. I’ve gotten to visit some amazing locations, try local cuisines and experience how different yet similar every city is. Traveling can be so much fun, but doing it weekly for work has caused some havoc on my skin. After testing out numerous beauty routines and products to keep my skin calm and balanced, I have discovered a few tips/tricks and products that make living out of a suitcase be less of a burden on my skin.

In addition to the products and travel hacks I’ve discovered these past 4+ years, I am so excited to be partnering with Dove Advanced Care Antiperspirant to share why it’s one of my favorite travel essentials, especially this winter.

Dove Advanced Care Antiperspirant

Running around kicking butt at work is one thing; add the stress of travel and compound that with having to be in tight quarters with others (i.e. on those tiny airplane seats) and stress sweat quickly becomes one of my biggest concerns. Luckily, when wearing Dove Advanced Care, I can put my mind at ease because I know their antiperspirant will provide 48-hour odor and wetness protection while taking care of my skin and preventing dryness (aka. that uncomfortable itchy feeling). Dove Dermatologist, Dr. Alicia Barba points out that underarm skin is sensitive and an area that shouldn’t be overlooked. Textures and fabrics can irritate the skin. Underneath all those layers, you’ll need a product that keeps you hydrated and protected.

Not only does Dove offer their Advanced Care Antiperspirant in a full size, but they have a travel size which can easily be thrown in your suitcase or tote. I usually carry the travel size with me in my laptop bag to conveniently and discretely freshen up throughout the day. I’ve been amazed at how gorgeous my underarms look and feel while using the Dove Advanced Care, so be sure to check out how it can help keep you fresh all day while hydrating your skin by visiting Dove’s website. Another tip from Dr Barba – if you can’t find your favorite beauty products in travel size options, stock up on sample size products and reuse the containers for essentials. But, if you find yourself in a pinch, an old contact case or eye dropper can carry some of your must-have creams for a short trip.

Petroleum Jelly – Similar to the question – how many licks does it take to get to the center of the lollipop, I wonder how many uses we could come up with for petroleum jelly. It may be one of the most used products in my makeup bag because there are so many uses for it. I put it on my lips, cuticles or elbows to hydrate my extremely dry skin. I also use it to remove my stubborn waterproof mascara or as a highlighter by dabbing a few pats on my cheekbones.

Hairspray – Most likely, this is one product you are bound to already have in your toiletry bag (because a good hair day can definitely change the outlook on the day ahead). In addition to using hairspray to keep my style in place, it can also be sprayed on clothes to reduce the amount of static (caused by all of the dry weather). Be sure to spray the mist about 4 inches away from your clothing and avoid using it on delicate fabrics (i.e., silk).

Hair Conditioner – Similar to the hairspray hack, hair conditioner can be multi-purposed while on the road. I often use the hotel-provided conditioner as shaving cream when I forgot to pack my own. The conditioner will stay on the top layer of skin and will provide the barrier between your skin and the razor without significantly affecting how close of a shave you get. It’s not as slick as shaving cream, but in a pinch – conditioner is wonderful substitute.

Argan Oil – A lightweight oil, such as an argan oil, can provide intense moisture without a sticky or stereotypical oily feeling. During the winter months, I replace my moisturizer while traveling with argan oil because it provides more hydration to my skin. It also can be used to tame flyaways/frizz from the static created by the dry air or as a body moisturizer in a pinch.

Ultimately, whatever you decided to use – I believe it’s extremely important to stick with products you love and you know work well for your skin. Throw in a few hydrating products to combat dryness and your skin will be thanking you for giving it the love it deserves while you are away from home.

What products are always in your makeup/toiletries bag when traveling? Do you also use Dove Advanced Care? I would love to hear about them in the comments below.

I love Dove products and have been using their antiperspirant on and off for years now. I always have to bring hand cream and lip balm when I travel since flying dries out my skin.

Dove is my favorite deodorant! I also keep one in my hand bag just to freshen up in the middle of the day. I also love how it helps keep your pits moisturized because I have very sensitive skin and get razor burn easily. This helps prevent that!

    Thanks for sharing!
