It’s Been 2 Years Already???

IMG_5912Guys, I cannot believe that my little corner of the Internet is officially 2 years old!! There is no way that I thought I would have been here when I first started. I started this blog on a whim – I loved reading blogs and one day decided to start writing my own. I took a look back at my first post and noticed that I wanted to start a beauty blog. Little did I know that I would have changed my focus many times, take multiple blogging breaks when life started to get crazy, I would be constantly learning and setting new goals for SGSB, or that I would have been able to meet some fabulous women throughout this journey!!

And to think about how much I have learned and grown this past year since I attended the Thrive Blog Conference. I had taken a significant break from blogging before I attended Thrive and knew it was going to be the jump-start of my blogging life again – but I didn’t realize in what ways it would impact me. And For anyone thinking about blogging, have an amateur blog or are an amazing blogger, I highly encourage you to attend a blog conference. I learned so much about the blogging side of blogging (I know – very descriptive), but more than that – I gained a tribe  – a group of ladies who have supported my goals, who I can share my struggles and ask some of the silliest questions to.  Another thing that I have gained from and since Thrive is more confidence. I have always been shy in new situations, but tend to become more outgoing as time passes by. The blog conference required me to meet new people and break out of my comfort zone. By doing that, I have seen a positive change in both my personal and professional lives. Seeing the sweet comments here and on social media mean so much to me!!  So thank you to my Houston blogger babes who have really inspired me to be the best version of myself, both in real life and here!!

To celebrate this little milestone, I wanted to celebrate in my favorite trend of 2015 – matching separates. I have fallen so  in love with these coordinating sets for many reasons – they are fun to wear, look sleek and allow me to get out of the door quickly. This skirt and top from Eloquii is my favorite for night time because of the bold, colorful print and because it is so comfortable. Because it is a statement outfit, I kept my accessories simple – nude strappy sandals from Just Fab, my Kendra Scott earrings, my go-to David Yurman pieces and my amazing gold balloon (I carry it around everywhere I go in the outfit….haha)! The last time I was at the party store I noticed these balloons and I knew that I had to have one for my 2-year blog-iversary!!  (Arne’s is amazing for all my HTX readers….anything and everything you would want for a party. Sorry, I got side tracked).

There are so many dreams and goals that I would like  to accomplish with SGSB over the next couple of months (and years). So to end this celebratory post, I want to thank each and every one of you for taking the time to stop by SGSB and for being so supportive during my blogging journey! I appreciate y’all and I hope to continue to get to know y’all better!! Here’s to many more posts to come….

P.S. To all of you who have ever thought about starting a blog – just do it! Jump in and start writing. It doesn’t have to be fancy. Gosh, you don’t even need to tell anyone about it. I didn’t for almost 3 months – even my closest peeps didn’t know for the longest time. I am always here if you have any questions about my journey or how to start your own little adventure! 😀

P.P.S. Thank you to my family who has put up with me snapping photos of everything (and I mean everything) over the past two years and for helping me shoot my outfit pics! But, most of all, thank you for supporting my dreams and everything I do!

Hi Emily! Congrats on your two-year anniversary! I know what an accomplishment it is to make it past one’s first year–it’s a pretty great feeling! I had the same bumpy start to my blog, and have shifted focuses quite often–there’s nothing wrong in it! I’m so glad I found your blog through Houston Fashion Bloggers, I’ll definitely be checking out future posts. I love this coordinated outfit–the colors and pattern are so modern and chic. You look fabulous! Also, those number and letter balloons are awesome!
